The Owen James Trio

The Owen James Trio comes in two configurations: The “standards” trio, featuring songs from the Great American Songbook, as well as Bossa Nova and Blue Note-era classics; and the “electric” trio, which veers toward the funk-, fusion- and world-jazz. Both trios feature Owen James on guitars and Andrew Dunham on drums. Bruce Dondero graces the Standards trio with his stellar upright bass work, and Stu Ford holds down the bass duties for the Electric trio. Whichever version of the trio you hear, you will be treated to an evening of inspired group interplay.

Owen James is one of Michigan’s premiere guitarists, specializing in unique virtuoso solo finger-style treatments of Jazz standards, Bossa Nova favorites, Folk/Americana tunes and Rock, Pop & Soul classics by artists such as Frank Sinatra, Miles Davis, Antonio Carlos Jobim, the Beatles, James Taylor, Prince, Sting and many more. As a soloist or group member, Owen has performed at venues across the country, including The Grand Hotel (Mackinac Island), The Jazz Kitchen (Indianapolis) and the Mount Hood Jazz Festival (Oregon).
